Group of American Historical, Literary, Official Business, Merchant and Political Documents and Letters, Late 18th-19th Century. Including a copy of the "Columbian Centinel," May 11, 1791; a receipt signed by William Treadwell, indicating payment received from Thomas Elwyn, Esq. July 1, 1812 for the Oracle from July 1, 1813, dated July 1813 (the "Oracle" was an important Federalist newspaper in Portsmouth, New Hampshire); a copy of the "Boston Patriot," June 30, 1813;" several indenture papers, one written "This Indenture, made and concluded upon this thirty first day of December in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred & ninety eight, between Joseph Blake, William Shattuck, Henry Newman, Joseph Barrell junior & Elias Hasket Derby junior, all of Boston..." with attached letter from notary William Stevenson bearing a seal and dated 1800; a Marlboro Hotel, Boston, invoice printed with a view of the hotel, dated June 13, 1823;" and a list dated 1833 "The Following Articles of Household furniture presented my Daughter Mary H. Morton on her marriage with Mr. George Thompson," with period descriptions of furniture and decorative arts.
