Two Bronze Medals, American, 1876 and British,1884. The first an 1876 United States Centennial Commemorative Medal, engraved by William Barber, on the obverse 'Liberty' holding wreaths over the heads of 'Industry' and 'Art,' inscribed "THESE UNITED COLONIES ARE, AND OF RIGHT OUGHT TO BE, FREE AND INDEPENDENT STATES," and on the reverse 'Liberty' stretching her left arm toward the heavens and stars, and holding a sword in her right hand, inscribed "ACT OF CONGRESS JUNE 1874," and "IN COMMEMORATION OF THE HUNDREDTH ANNIVERSARY OF AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE;" the second medal one of 50 medals struck in bronze, engraved by Leonard Charles Wyon, on the obverse a portrait of "VICTORIA REGINA" signed "J.S. WYON," and on the reverse fish and a net, inscribed "INTERNATIONAL FISHERIES EXHIBITION 1883," "L.F. DAY INV," signed "PINCHES .F.," housed in the original gilt inscribed box.
